Garland Vance, Director

Garland Vance grew up in Asheville, NC, where he attended Asheville Christian Academy. After earning a BS in English, with an emphasis in Creative Writing from Carson Newman College, he served as a youth pastor while working at the historic Biltmore House. Garland and his wife, Dorothy, who previously served as the WCP director, began at WinShape in the Fall of 2002. Garland earned his Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School in Birmingham, AL and became the director of the College Program in January 2005. Garland and his family live on the WinShape campus. He enjoys reading, playing ultimate Frisbee, and spending time with his wife, son Calvin, daughter Sophie and their dog, Trinity.

Chris
Stricklen, Assistant Director

Chris Stricklen grew up in a military family with the last stop being in Peachtree City, GA.  After attending Berry College as a WinShape student and earning a BS in Decision Science (Math, Computer Science, Business), he married Jessica, also a Berry alum in November 2000 at Berry's Frost Chapel.  Chris and Jessica returned to Berry in May 2006, after ministering at several churches and earning their master degrees.  Chris holds a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Educational Ministries from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.  He enjoys spending time with his family, serving students, playing sports, strategizing, and eating Chick-fil-A.
