Applicant Questions

Is Chick-fil-A work experience required?
Chick-fil-A experience is preferred, but not required. Chick-fil-A employees are considered before those who are not.

Is it impossible for me to get in without Chick-fil-A experience?
No-it's not impossible, but it helps. Our main constituent is finding students who
exhibit our core values-who follow Jesus Christ and demonstrate an
ability to lead, who live a life of integrity, who serve others with
their gifts and abilities and who demonstrate unity through teamwork.

How many students are enrolled in the program?
We have the capacity for 128 students: 72 males and 56 females.

How many new students are admitted each year?
That number is contingent upon dorm space. We can only take the number of students for whom we have space, so it depends on how many students graduate (the average is thirty per year).

How many applications do you normally receive?
On average, there are about 150 applications to be considered. Given
our limit of space for about thirty, however, the selection process is
highly competitive.

Do you have Spring admissions?
No. WCP only allows admission during the fall semester of each year.

When do I come for my interview?
Less then half of all applicants will be extended an invitation. These
interviews take place throughout the months of January, February and
March, on Monday afternoons and Tuesday mornings. All applicants will
be notified by April 1st.

What are the Monday Night Meetings?
All WinShape students gather every Monday night at 10:00 p.m. This time concentrates on developing disciples, creating community and launching leaders. Not only is it enjoyable, but it also features various speakers to better equip WinShape students toward having a lifelong impact.

What are leadership development groups?
Several times a year students gather in peer-led groups focused on
leadership development. The meetings center around four qualities WCP believes as composing good Christian leadership-Christ-followership, Integrity, Self-Knowledge and Servanthood.

When will I know if I've been accepted to the program?
The only absolute date we promise is April 15th, before fall enrollment.

Do I have to apply to Berry College before I apply to the WinShape College Program?
No. The order in which you apply does not matter. In years past, the
order did matter, but that is no longer the case. If you receive
information that says you must apply to WinShape first, please
disregard it.

If I don't get in this semester, can I enroll at Berry and apply again for next semester?
No. WinShape Centre only admits new Berry College students.

What does the $8,000 cover?
The $8,000 per year is taken off your total Berry bill (tuition, room & board, etc.)

Does WinShape cover my housing?
No. Even though WinShape scholars are the only students who live on
mountain campus, Pilgrim and Friendship are still Berry dorms and hold
the same fees and regulations as required by the College Residence Life
Office.

Do I have to live on mountain campus if I am a WinShape student?
Yes. Living in the WinShape dormitories is a requirement of all WinShape students.

Besides scholarship money, are there any other benefits to being a WinShape student?
We provide an opportunity to live in Christian community and receive
leadership training throughout your four years of education. We also
provide many opportunities for community service and mission work, as
well as the option of participation in any of the seven Winshape
Foundation ministries. Each year we have a discipleship retreat,
community building activities (e.g. ski trip, adventure trip, etc) and
a variety of socials.

What if I don't receive the WinShape scholarship? Can I still participate in the activities?
Most of the Winshape College Program activities are open to Berry
students, including our Monday Night Meetings. In addition, the
Winshape Foundation offers seven branch ministries in which you can
participate.

After Your Interview

I'm waiting to hear whether or not I've been accepted to the WinShape program. Do I still need to pay the Berry room deposit?
Yes. If you plan on attending Berry, despite your WinShape status, that
deposit will go toward any campus room and board (including WinShape
dorms). If you're attending the college only if accepted to WCP, you're
better off waiting to pay your deposit until officially accepted.

I'm waiting to hear whether or not I've been accepted to the WinShape program. What should I put down for my dorm choice on the room preference sheet?
List your first choice as Pilgrim or Friendship Dorm, and that you're waiting to hear from WinShape. But put down a second choice as well.

I am on the waiting list.  What does that mean?
Applicants placed on the Waiting List are put in one of three groups (Group A, B or C).  If an opportunity in WinShape becomes available, applicants in Group A will be considered prior to students in other groups.  Each applicant will be notified if they have moved into a higher group.  If the opportunity does not become available for an applicant by the end of the summer, the applicant, regretfully, will not be able to participate in the Program.

Once You're Accepted

How do roommate assignments work?
Fill out the roommate preference form sent to you by Berry Residence Life. This form will eventually make its way to us, and we will select a roommate closest to your preferences (if you know you want to room with someone, you're welcome to make that request). After this, you can select your own roommate and compete in "room selection" to move to the room of your choice. Room selection competition is based on accumulated number of hours.

We're filling out our room preference form and trying to figure out our room and board charge. Which of these options is ours?
The Pilgrim/Friendship room and board charge is the lowest fee listed. The other two are the townhouses and the New Resident Hall on main campus, which are apartment-type buildings.
