Leverage Talent, Skills, and Community
Leading Teams is a WinShape Wilderness Signature program designed for leaders and leadership teams. The curriculum is based on leveraging the impact of your team by exploring talent, skills and community to create lasting results. Leading Teams combines interactive classroom style learning with outdoor experiential learning on one of our three challenge courses. Get to know yourself and your leadership style by taking the StandOut Assessment. A test that helps build individuals who are self-aware, perceptive and authentic. Learn where you rank in categories such as “influence,” “connectivity,” or “provision,” as well as how your StandOut results compare to others on your team. A certified StandOut instructor will coach you and your team along the way to discover the ultimate blend of talents in your organization.

Michael holds a MBA in International Business Development and Executive Sales Leadership. Williams is a part time professor at Georgia State University and a guest lecturer at Berry College and Clayton State University teaching Social Entrepreneurship, Non-profit Management, Advanced Entrepreneurship, and Professional Sales. In addition to all of these activities, Michael also serves on the Board of Directors of two international NGO’s. In 2010, Berry College awarded Michael the Most Outstanding Young Alumni Award and he was honored with the 2011 Hosea Williams Award for Community Activism. He recently served as the Executive Director of The Chick-fil-A Leadercast (the largest leadership event in the world. Michael is a Certified Coach through the Marcus Buckingham Company specializing in the StandOut in Practice Workshop, StandOut for Teams Workshop, and the StandOut for Managers Workshops. Michael has a unique ability to help uncover people’s abilities and potential and empower them with the confidence and tools for maximum success.

Many core issues face leaders today- communication, trust, and problem solving are just a few. Participants will be equipped in the theory and practice of leading a team by learning how to effectively assess these challenging components through the model of experiential learning. Using various hands on initiatives paired with directed processing, you and your team will be led through both the hard and soft skills of learning and teaching.

Russell Sarratt serves as Director of WinShape Wilderness. A staff member since 1997, Russ holds a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership, with an emphasis in Servant Leadership, from Gonzaga University. He’s a member of American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the Association for Challenge Course Technology.

Shawn received his doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas where he specialized in marriage and family therapy. He currently serves as a Senior Director for the WinShape Foundation (a non-profit ministry of Chick-fil-A) overseeing Marriage, Retreat, Foster Homes, and Experiential Learning ministries. Prior to his role at WinShape, Shawn served as the Director of Training for the Smalley Relationship Center, founded by Gary Smalley. Shawn is co-author of two books: “The Wholehearted Marriage” and “Five Days to a New Marriage”.
